I love total escapism in my reads. And I really love a good revenge novel. And both are here. Still, I also like a bit of believability, unless I'm reading in the genres of paranormal or fantasy. But, our heroine was too much of too much. I mean she could have been a super hero at ten years old only to be even more super as she aged. And I would get lost and confused as pronouns would change gender making it difficult to follow the story. And time was very oddly constructed. The poor editing wasn't the worst but with all the other things just mentioned, it made for a confusing and difficult (in a bad way) read. All that said, I think, with practice and experience, the author has potential. Good overall plot just light on follow thru.

I must say this was a really good book I could not put this one down. I enjoyed the story between Lucca and Angelica. I will definitely follow this author.
I love the way it’s written . It makes you feel so many emotions. I love the story and the characters.
LOVED LOVED and more LOVE to this book. Would recommend it for a fast paced kick ass female character with an equally dark hero. ENJOY!
love Angelica--she's one of my new favorite heroines of all time! She's a total kick butt heroine, and she always puts duty, honor and family above all else. I can relate to woman doing something she hates because it's expected of her. Why didn't I give this book 5 stars? Well, I wanted to, but spoiler alert--Lucca (her love interest) is a tool . I don't know if I could create a worse male "hero". Everything about him was horrid. He bullied her--he dominated and controlled her in the "sex" scenes (I would like to call them love scenes, but they just aren't). This is of course, after she's been dominated, humiliated, tied and chained REPEATEDLY by some of the worst and craziest criminals in the US. Really? She's such a prize, he loves and won't let her go, but then he doesn't check to see that she's eating for a month? Are you joking? He knows the horrors she's had to face, but he just ignores her? And Maria? Where do I begin...she's traumatized and raped barely brought back to the land of the living by Angelica, but no one, not even Maria knows what to do with Angelica after she's been tortured? Are Angie and Joan the only two capable, intelligent people in the entire book? I just can't pick up what you're putting down here. I want to love your book. You had a great premise. The heroine was awesome, but seriously, a 15 year old kid would've been better than Lucca.
I love a book with a bada** heroin!! Angie gets her vengeance for a the wrongs in her life!! She has experienced some of the most horrible the things that can happen in life and they have made her one tough lady, so tough that when love comes she pushed it away!!
Lucca is a underboss, feared by most. He falls hard for Angie determined to have her no matter the price!!
Lucca and Angie together....that is a scary and deadly combination, well for their enemies anyway...
If ten stars could be given, this book would have them! It's been a while since I've read straight through a book, but when you have a female Dexter Morgan crossed with Jason Bourne, putting the book down is not an option! Angie was BAD TO THE BONE! Having suffered a horribly tragic childhood put her on an immediate quest for vengeance while simultaneously trying to stay ahead of her psychotic, obsessed stalker. Maria put the first chink in the armor around her heart, Lucca the next and Alexa totally obliviated the rest. This is the best mafia novel I have read this year (and I have read MANY)!
There is no doubt this author is talented and she has spun an intriguing tale in Angelica with lots of clever twists and turns and a strong female heroine. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, there are some typos, but not enough to disrupt the flow of the story. What did disrupt the flow for me was the accidental switch in point of view to first person on occasion when the story is written in third person for the majority.

I'm very keen to read the rest of the series, however the fact that the next few books appear to shrink in size (and therefore probably in depth too) yet the price for each consecutive book is higher than the first, really puts me off. At least give me a novel of the same length or longer than the first if you are going to charge more. The price increase is not justified other than as a money grab from the author who sucked us in from the first. I'll put the series on hold for now and hope they are bundled at a cheaper price in future because I really like this author's storytelling ability.
