I commend this young man for sharing his personal experiences in hopes of inspiring others. I was impressed by his ability to overcome circumstances that some would use as an excuse to become another statistic. Instead, those hardships fueled his journey. The naysayers became his motivators on his mission to prove them wrong and excel beyond what anyone thought possible. A quick read but don't be misled by the page count. This book is a powerhouse of valuable tools and information...a true recipe for success.
There comes a time in every person’s life when they will meet someone who just breathes life and joy into the those around them. For me, Malik Champlain has been one of those ‘life-breathers’. His passion for life and for people is unmistakable because it’s intentional. We don’t always have to know why a person behaves the way they do to appreciate them. We definitely do not need to know a person’s whole history to appreciate, or want to emulate, their good character; but when given the opportunity to read Malik’s book, I jumped at the chance to know the ‘why’ behind this man’s passion, hunger, and drive.
The struggles that Malik faced early on in life resonated with me. I’ve heard something similar from others who’ve struggled in life. I’ve heard it in my own story. I’ve heard it in the stories of people who want to justify why they cannot possibly rise above their trials. However, what makes Passion Hunger Drive Live Your Dreams, Not Your Fears such a gem is that it’s a victory story. This is not just the story of one man’s harsh reality; this is the story of wanting something more and then intentionally seeking after it. This is the story of how encouragement and involvement from others can positively impact a person. This is the story of how a mother’s love and consistency can do more for her children than her wallet can. This is the story of how one man turned his test into his testimony and his story is relevant and timely in America today.
So who should read this book? The short answer is everyone. The applications of a non-fiction book like this one are endless in my mind. I can see middle school and high school English teachers using this book in a myriad of valuable ways in their classes. I picture special education teachers appreciating the value of Malik’s story for their students. I can see police departments using this book as a tool to increase empathy and respect for the young lives they are sworn to protect and serve. Anyone who has ever felt stuck in their circumstantial despairs and needs a solid reminder that victory is indeed an option, will want to read, Passion Hunger Drive Live Your Dreams, Not Your Fears. Malik is a ‘life-breather’ and reading this book will help breathe fire into your life and help motivate you to go after your dreams!

Malik did a great job showing his life struggles to accomplish goils and show it possible with hard work you can accomplish yours. This book is very well written and easy to relate to.
