Great Book! I loved this story. I loved the humor, I found myself laughing out loud all through this book.
loved the story so exciting. I wish she would quickly write more. one of the best writers. Up there with Mary balogh and you can laugh and cry at her stories
Other reviewers have given an accurate description of the plot of this book. While it follows the typical romance formula, what really made the book for me is the humor. I found myself smiling as I read and, at times, even laughing out loud. I read this book in a single day, finding it to be an excellent escape.
addled with five unruly orphans, the Earl of Greyley, Anthony Elliot, is at his wits' end. Unfortunately, the only person willing to deal with the adorable little terrors is Anna Thraxton, governess "extraordinaire" --- and the one woman Anthony can't abide. She's too outspoken, too opinionated, and far too beautiful for his peace of mind. A woman should be meek and mild --- words that perfectly describe his prospective bride, not the flame-haired temptress who haunts his dreams.

Anna knew this job would be trouble the moment she set foot in the door --- but it's Anthony who's the problem, not the children! It may be called An Affair to Remember but I don't remember much about it at all except that there is a horse named Satan in it. This annoyed me because I had just finished another book by this same author and in that there was also a horse named Satan. They were not the same horse. As I finished reading this book 3 days ago and can't remember what it was about. I've read a lot of Regency romances and loved them. I could tell you plots of stories read 10 years ago. Therefore I find it significant that 3 days later I find nothing memorable about it at all. I apparently like well enough when I was reading it to finish it, but that's damning with faint praise.
Anthony and Anna...what a match. I enjoyed reading this book so much. Anthony takes responsibilities so seriously that sent him into a situation that is chaotic for his very organized life. Dealing with a bunch of children that are driving him crazy. His only choice is exactly the one that he doesn't want. Anna needs to help him and he had to sacrifice himself in the altar of humility...I loved the grandfather, he is so great, loving, funny and sneaky. And everything goes exactly the way the grandfather planned it...Both characters are intelligent and Anna is not afraid to take a stand and to do what is right, no matter Anthony's or anybody else's opinion. Well done.
I also picked up this book after reading the previous series and the intensity between Anna & Anthony was such a teaser in "Sara". This book is WAY better than "Sara" and was also a nice change of pace. Many historicals get tiring when the couple decides to marry, but NOT fall in love. This book had the characters intensely attracted to each other and the reader was there all the way. Their predicament reminded me of Julia Quinn's last Bridgerton book fated to be passionately in love, but not together - how do the H&H solve it? This book ties it up neatly. I also found myself re-reading the last couple run-ins Anna & Anthony have (on the stairs and in his bedroom) over and over. So well written. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
I bought the other books in the St John Men series after reading "Seducing Sara". I was REALLY looking forward to this book, when Anna and Anthony get together. I thought the banter between them was good and I enjoyed the story right up until he decides Anna would make a good mistress. Say what? It turns out he's already proposed to another woman. Now a big deal is made about his "honor" and how he can't go back and drop this other woman for Anna, because that would be dishonorable. Of course seducing Anna and proposing that she be his mistress is OK. HUH? Anna is a gently born lady of society that's fallen on hard times and has to be a governess to make her way in the world. She's already been attacked and insulted in her former positions, so you'd think she'd be so insulted by Anthony that she'd leave (or tell her grandfather, who's staying with her). No, she stays for the kids and to help out Anthony's fiance (please!). Very dissapointing. I expected better. It doesn't help that Anthony is so clueless about why Anna is so upset. He constantly is plotting to get her in his bed and set up before he even gets married. I wish just once the heroine would have some backbone and walk away BEFORE she has sex with him!
