Fighting for Flight The Fighting Series Book 1 edition by JB Salsbury Romance eBooks
Fighting for Flight was a book I had to force myself to keep reading and don't think I'll read again. There were some good characters like Jonah and Blake, but Raven wasn't realistic or believable. At times, I felt like circumstances happened so the author could check off plot points on an outline. No emotion or connection. It isn't the worst book I've read, but not one I'd really recommend to others.

Fighting for Flight The Fighting Series Book 1 edition by JB Salsbury Romance eBooks Reviews
It’s been so long since I’ve delved into a sports romance. Due to my kindle hoarding, one click addictive finger...I have this entire series and had yet to read it, so I’m so glad to have opened it up and met the characters that are so easy to love.
Jonah is all alpha, tough as nails and a huge playboy but one look at the sweet, innocent mechanic, Raven, turns him into a big marshmallow when she’s around. She’s so kind hearted and down to earth that anyone in her vicinity would find it hard to not love her...unless your a cold-hearted jerk...which is what brings in the suspense aspect of the story.
I was immediately pulled in by the prologue and continued to be captivated throughout the story.
What a great read.
I've heard a lot about this series so I decided to give it a try. I've never read anything by this author and on the surface this book has some of my favourite tropes- reformed man whore, innocent h, alpha hero and most importantly NO CHEATING!-alas that was only on the surface. To be fair the writing was good, the story was OK though a little slow, my biggest issue however was Raven! I don't think I've ever read a heroine as weak and annoying with some serious TSTL moments as this h. I mean seriously? Ugh she annoyed me to no end with her spineless muttering and tears! This book did not live up to the hype, the characters were immature, the villain was annoying, the side characters disappointing, the H too immature and quick to fly off the handle and the h too whiny, naive and TSTL!!! I'm annoyed I wasted my time and money!
Enjoyable story full of emotion, romance and healthy dose of suspense. The book has been sitting in my kindle for a while, I decided to give it a shot and was pleasantly surprised by the story and fell in love with Jonah and Raven’s story.
The story centers around a young mechanic, Raven, who is offered a job to work on a famous MMA fighter, Jonah’s, car. Jonah is the play boy of the MMA world and slowly but surely falls for the little spunky mechanic. Little does Jonah know Raven has secrets of her own.
I like Raven’s character, every now and then she would make some questionable decisions that most of the time I got past but I guess that’s to be expected with her upbringing. She is a resilient character with everything she has gone through, having a pimp of a father and a whore for a mother that wanted nothing to do with her. I’m glad she found someone as strong and sexy as Jonah.
Her BFF Eve, I could NOT stand and truly killed the story for me so much so that I had to give the book 3.5 stars. I hate weak females and I felt like she was a really crappy friend to Raven in the first place. The other secondary characters where awesome like Blake, Jonah’s BFF, and another man-whore and gives 0 craps about that. And Guy who is like a father figure to Raven and the owner to the shop she works at.
Jonah is all things sexy. I enjoyed the humor and banter he had with his friends it made the story that much more interesting to read. I also enjoyed how he was there for Raven and would do anything to protect her no matter what. It was a fun read albeit a bit long but fun none the less.
Raven Moretti's dad is a big time pimp who came up with the brilliant business plan of impregnating one of his best whores for the purpose of breeding the perfect prostitute. Now, 21 yrs later, he's finally decided it's time to come collect the goods---because obviously, he figured it was a good idea to wait 21 YEARS to collect his untrained and unwilling "prostitute" of a daughter due to his worry about the legalities of prostituting her while she was under the age of 21 (of course, the fact that it's illegal to prostitute her regardless doesn't seem to concern him). Right. Really wish I'd paid attention to the negative reviews on this one.
The plot of this book was laughable and the characters were kind of horrible. Jonah starts out as a total misogynist whose only use for women is sex. In the beginning, I found him disgusting - seriously, he claims he never hits the same "honeypot" twice and admits freely that he only performs "in and out operations." I don't require romance to be PC but personally, I don't find it hot when a guy hates women and sees them all as greedy grasping "sluts" ( or okay, sadly, I do feel like sometimes authors can pull this off if the character redeems himself but I certainly wasn't feeling it here!). It's especially off putting that this guy only knows how to pleasure himself and probably has no clue how to please women even though he's apparently banged his way through billions of them.
Then there's Raven; she started out cool cause she's a mechanic but it quickly becomes apparent that she's a passive NA pushover with a bad case of Mary Sue. Seriously, Raven is so sweet and cutesy that the urge to regurgitate struck hard and fast at least 1/2 way through. I mean, I just couldn't stand her sometimes. One measly threat from her dad and she rushes home in tears, curls herself into a ball, and proceeds to fall into a catatonic state and can only be roused to life HOURS later, after the bf breaks down her door and puts his arms around her. Ugh. FYI, I did the audio version and the narrator who does this chick's voice quickly becomes annoying because she tries way too hard to act out the book and maintains a whiny warbly quality to her whispery voice throughout the entire book.
